Reflectivity is the share of incoming sunlight and infrared radiation that is reflected back off a surface. The more reflective the roof, the lower the building temperature, and that saves energy and money.

Cool roofs use reflecting paint (often white) or plants to reflect more sunlight and get less hot. Nearly any roof can be cool, often at the same cost as a conventional roof.
Less heat means cooler interiors, lower air conditioning bills, and a safer environment when the weather gets extreme.
